{"id":457,"date":"2021-09-17T05:07:01","date_gmt":"2021-09-16T19:07:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mounting.communicateat.com.au\/?p=457"},"modified":"2022-10-31T11:35:54","modified_gmt":"2022-10-31T01:35:54","slug":"space-saving-ideas-for-frame-clamps","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mounting.communicateat.com.au\/?p=457","title":{"rendered":"Space-Saving Ideas for Frame Clamps"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>We often come across those wheelchairs where there is limited space for a frame clamp to attach a mounting system.&nbsp; It&#8217;s often on pediatric wheelchairs or those who have a lot installed along the seat base and limited space to get the anchor of the mount kit install &#8211; otherwise known as the Frame Clamp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, what can you do when you have a lack of space for a the Frame Clamp?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One approach is to use a narrower Frame Clamp.  There is now a more compact option from Daedalus Technologies in their DAESSY Frame Clamp range that might just work for you. It&#8217;s made for 1&#8243; or 25mm tubing but works fine with adapter sleeves for 7\/8&#8243; or 3\/4&#8243; tubing too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">DAESSY Narrow Side Mount Clamp for 1&#8243; or 25mm tubing <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Narrow Side Mount Inner Piece (coded D-NSMIP) and it only takes up 4cm of space in comparison to the regular Side Mount Inner Piece (D-SMIP1000) clamp for 1 inch round clamp which needs 5.5cm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/mounting.communicateat.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/NSMIP-01.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-458\" width=\"196\" height=\"221\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mounting.communicateat.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/NSMIP-01.jpg 371w, https:\/\/mounting.communicateat.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/NSMIP-01-266x300.jpg 266w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 196px) 100vw, 196px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>This saving of 15mm can make all the world of difference, either allowing a mount kit to be attached and having the AAC presented where it needs to be &#8211; or not!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, the design of the clamp allows you to lower or raise the attachment point of the Outer Piece, like a Removable Frame Clamp Receiver (RFCR or &#8220;blue lock&#8221; which may assist in fitting purposes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"717\" height=\"422\" src=\"https:\/\/mounting.communicateat.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/NSMIP-02.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-459\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mounting.communicateat.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/NSMIP-02.jpg 717w, https:\/\/mounting.communicateat.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/NSMIP-02-300x177.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 717px) 100vw, 717px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In the image above, the regualr Side Mount Inner Piece is pictured left and it&#8217;s Narrow cousin to the right. Both clamps present a DAESSY Inner Piece Adapter so that the rest of the mount kit can be attached however the narrow version does so using less seat-base tubing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It can get into spaces the others can&#8217;t &#8211; very useful!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Collar Clamps<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Another option is utilising the collar clamps from Blue Sky Designs&#8217; Mount&#8217;n Mover system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Available in multiple tube sizes, they can be used on the curve of tubing and with the addition of an adaptor plate could, be used with either Mount&#8217;n Mover hardware or a DAESSY Inner Piece Adapter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"210\" height=\"278\" src=\"https:\/\/mounting.communicateat.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/NSMIP-03.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-462\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We often come across those wheelchairs where there is limited space for a frame clamp to attach a mounting system.
